Tank Loco Kits

LNER Class J71, 0-6-0 Tank Loco

PROTOTYPE. This class of 120 locomotives was built by the North Eastern Railway from 1886 for shunting and pilot duties. They later served both the LNER and British Railways on these duties. Members of the class lasted until 1961, with number 68286 being one of the famous green liveried York pilots.

KIT. The main body components are etched in brass. All the chassis and some of the heavier body components are in nickel silver. The fit of all the parts on this uncomplicated locomotive is very good. Instructions are well illustrated with exploded diagrams complemented by text covering construction. This is an ideal kit for the less experienced loco builder.

If these are desired as an alternative to the wire wiper pickups that are included in the kit. I would recommend the type produced by Slater's and provision is made in the kit chassis for fitting these (Slater's Cat No 7157).
